Wilmington Woman's Club members Emma Dineen and Fay Hall presented Hoggard High School sophomore, Kylie Lundy, with a check to attend the Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Academy. Ms. Lundy has a GPA over 4.0 and is showing great leadership skills by being involved with many clubs and by volunteering hours helping students at the school and in our community.

For over five decades, HOBY has inspired young people to make a difference and become catalysts for positive change in their home, school, workplace, and community. Each spring, 10,000 high school sophomores from across the country join one of HOBY’s 70 State Leadership Seminars to recognize their leadership talents and apply them to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community.

Wilmington Woman's Club (WWC) presented a check for $3,500 to three Cape Fear Community College (CFCC) students on Monday, Sep. 25, 2017, at the NC Sorosis Clubhouse. The scholarship recipients are Casey Mericle, Abigail Kent, and Nicole Savani.

Casey Mericle and Abigail Kent are currently in the Associate Degree in Nursing program, and Nicole Savani is in the Early Childhood Education program.

The WWC provides funds to local nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that have as their primary focus the needs of women and children in the Lower Cape Fear area. The WWC has provided scholarships to CFCC students for over 20 years

In February, 2017, the Education Committee honored and appreciated the Hoggard High School staff for Valentine's Day.

Each year, the Wilmington Woman's Club awards scholarships to students at Cape Fear Community College and
University of North Carolina—Wilmington.
