Community Service

Education and Libraries

Chairman: Carol Query

Purpose: GFWC members promote education at ALL levels. The members help others while continuing to learn themselves. Projects in the Education and Libraries Community Service Program are designed to foster schools and educational institutions, and to promote literacy, libraries, and love of a good book. The members encourage the growth of individuals and communities at home and around the world.

The committee is responsible for scheduling a guest speaker at one of the business meetings during the year.

Members are encouraged to promote and support other projects during the year, such as:

  • Books for children
  • Cape Fear Literacy
  • Support to Epsilon Sigma Omicron
  • Mentoring
  • National Library Workers Day
  • National Library Week celebrations
  • Scholarships at UNCW and CFCC
  • STEM projects for special needs students
