Chairman: Sandra Floyd
Purpose: The GFWC Environment Community Service Program encourages WWC members to be stewards of the Earth by (1) preserving the world's resources and protecting wildlife domestic animals, (2) living sustainably, and (3) beautifying our communities and enjoying nature. The environment is everything that makes up our surroundings and affects our ability to live on the Earth -- the air we breathe, the water that covers most of its surface, all flora and fauna, and the soil, minerals, and fossil fuels that exist within its crust.
This program is responsible to schedule a guest speaker at one of the business meetings during the year.
It is also encouraged to participate in other environmental projects, such as:
- Arbor Day Fountation
- Blue Ridge Parkway
- Keep America Beautiful
- NC Aquariums
- NC Zoo
- Rain Forest Rescue
- Tree City USA
Projects:
2022 Cardinal Strut Race:
On March 19, 2022, club members participated in the 2022 Cardinal Strut Race. The race is a fundraiser to help provide financial assistance to "Children's Cancer Journey." Club members were able to reach out to "make a difference" for area families who face many challenges through such an emotional time for children with cancer and their families.
